6 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safaris Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali international Airport pick up and drive to the Safari Lodge booked.

Our 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safaris starts with a pick up from Kigali International Airport.  Then drive to the booked hotel for check in. Depending on arrival time there is an optional Kigali city tour (Africa’s most cleanest city). That includes a city walk tour around the craft market, old Kigali City, Kimironko market and to Kigali genocide memorial, then drive back to the Hotel.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and transfer to Park Volcanoes

Depending on the arrival time for our 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safaris, there is an optional Kigali City Tour. Just in case you arrived late on day 1 and missed it. Kigali city tour involves a city walk around the craft market, Old Kigali City, Kigali genocide memorial and Kimironko market (Rwanda’s largest general market). Then drive to Volcanoes National Park that lies in northwestern Rwanda. And borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. This park is also popularly known for its endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkeys.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking Safari in Volcanoes and afternoon Community Interaction.

The 6 Day Rwanda gorilla safaris commences with an early morning breakfast and parked lunch at around 6:30 AM then set off for briefing at the park headquarters where you will be grouped eight people per gorilla family, life in the gorilla jungle is amazing as you will encounter lots of bird species, colorful butterflies, different plants and tree species, with the head guide doing the interpretation and putting the group in touch with an advance team of trackers who will eventually lead the group to the silver back and their entire gorilla family, we shall have an hours interaction with the mountain gorillas.

After a wonderful experience with the mountain gorilla we are back at Safari Lodge, were we refresh then get ourselves ready for the community interaction, visit the community at the gorilla guardians which is a community project promoting and exhibiting the kinyanrwanda culture show casing different aspect of dance marriage, tradition medicine, food and much more, important to note is the center helps to reintegrate former poacher and give them an alternative means of survival. Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking and afternoon transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Rwanda’s park volcanoes is one place where Gold meets Silver just like Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park here gorillas and golden monkeys share the same jungle hence offering you a chance to trail these pretty primates that can only be spotted from these two areas across Africa. Gold monkeys are found usually in the bamboo zone of the high altitude mountain forest, known as golden monkeys due to the golden color of their fur very pronounced when the sun reflect on them

the walk will take about 3-4 hours and spend an hour with them, preparation for the hike is like that of gorillas, Breakfast at 6am, thereafter depart for the Kinigi Park headquarters for the day’s briefing, Drinking water not less than 2 liters, packed lunch or food, rain gear, sun lotion, bud spray, gloves, hiking boots, long pants and long sleeved shirts, Having encountered the amazing golden monkeys, we drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk experience. Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest and afternoon canopy walk.

This day we start with an early morning breakfast and packed lunch then set off for the tracking. The Cyamudongo forest fragment is specifically the popular chimpanzee trekking sector of the Nyungwe forest. Wth a highly habituated community, covering an area of 4kmsq close to 1½ hours drive from Gisakura. After the previous day check in with park at the Gisakura reception center your driver/guide aware of the point of rendezvous and starting time,

However you should know that if you’re tracking in Cyamudongo forest it is an early start whereas the ones at Uwinka staring time varies. Before entering the forest you will be briefed on the do’s and don’ts while in the jungle, during the walk lookout for the different bird species, plant, trees and other primate species like the black and white colobus monkeys might be encountered as we track Chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Afternoon set for a canopy walk experience that certainly enables you have spectacular views of the untouched natural forest and amazing sights of Lake Kivu.
