7 days Kenya wilderness escape , Prepare to enjoy the crème de la crème of Kenya’s natural and cultural experiences in only one week. The trip starts in Nairobi City, one of Africa’s fast-growing Cities and the Capital City of magical Kenya. You will then head to the southern side of the country to explore the beautiful and popular Masai Mara National Reserve for a chance to sight the big five game, possibly witness the riveting wildebeest migration and get an up-close experience of Masai culture. The adventure then continues to Lake Nakuru National Park, another phenomenal wildlife Area in Kenya, and finally to Amboseli National Park, a small National Park that is known for its huge elephant herds that range freely at the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro- Africa’s highest Mountain found in Northern Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi City to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your trip kick-starts early with breakfast at the Hotel in Nairobi, followed by the five to six hours’ journey to Masai Mara National Reserve. The interesting road trip involves a scenic stopover at the Great Rift Valley. You will be at the Reserve early in the afternoon and afterward, check into your Safari lodge/camp, settle in, and enjoy hot lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive.
After the three to four-hour productive game drive, return back to the Safari lodge/camp to freshen up and enjoy a freshly prepared Dinner.

Overnight at:

  • Angama Mara or Olare Mara Kempinski (Luxury).
  • Mara Bush Camp or Ashnil Mara Camp (midrange).

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2 & 3: Full-day Masai Mara tours

The next two days will be dedicated to exploring Masai Mara National Reserve. After breakfast, you will leave the Safari Camp/Lodge with packed lunch and enough drinking water to drive through Masai Mara’s tawny wildlife-filled savannah plains. Sight different wildlife species that include wildebeests, zebras, Topis, gazelles, Masai giraffes, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, impalas, African buffaloes, leopards, hartebeests, mongoose, serval cats, Defassa waterbucks, warthogs, bushbucks, Dik-diks, Olive baboons, vervet monkeys, elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, to mention but a few. If you ever desired to shoot a nature documentary, Masai Mara is the perfect place to be.

During one of the afternoons, you will visit the Masai community to enjoy a raw cultural experience as you learn from their mind-blowing traditions, unique dressing, and local dishes, tour their homesteads known as “Manyatta”, and even buy a number of beautiful artifacts.

Day 4: Road transfer from Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park

Arise and shine, have breakfast, and pack your bags for Lake Nakuru National Park. This journey will take about 6-7 hours with lots of wilderness views, and arrive in the afternoon. You will have lunch and continue with your wilderness discoveries.

  • Luxury: Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp or Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.
  • Midrange: Lake Nakuru Lodge or Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge.

Day 5: Depart for the remarkable Amboseli National Park

After a lovely breakfast at the Safari Camp/Lodge, depart for Amboseli National Park, another remarkable National Park in Kenya. This Park is just 7 hours’ drive away and on getting there, you will immediately check-in to lodge and enjoy hot lunch before continuing with your safari in Amboseli. Enjoy the game drive through this magnificent Safari destination with views of large elephant herds, lions and buffaloes among others. Overnight stay at the pre-booked Safari Camp/Lodge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 6: Full-day Amboseli National Park tour

On this day, you will not only get the chance to discover the ecosystems and wildlife species of Amboseli National Park but also see the beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, referred as the “rooftop of Africa” nearer than you can ever imagine. Start the day with breakfast before embarking on the morning game drive that will last 3-4 hours. While exploring the savannah plains and woodlands, expect to sight free ranging elephants, African buffaloes, zebras, bushbucks, warthogs, spotted hyenas and many others wandering with the backdrop Of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later get back to the Safari camp to have lunch and siesta. Later, get the chance to visit and interact with the nearby Masai community to learn about their unique pastoralist lifestyle.  You will have dinner and overnight at the same Safari Camp/Lodge.

Day 7: Amboseli National Park to Nairobi City

Have breakfast and bid farewell to the beautiful Amboseli landscapes and wildlife, but before that, first have a game drive that will increase your chances of spotting more animals that were missed in the previous days.  Afterward, transfer back to the Capital- Nairobi and to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will continue to your International flight home or continue with your safari.
