Detailed Itinerary of the 8 Days Luxury Rwanda Flying Safari
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and drive to the Hotel
On arriving at the Kigali International Airport, you are welcomed and picked up by a driver guide who transfers you to check-in hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. If you have time and you are not so tires, you can go on brief city tour to explore and visit the Genocide Memorials, Art Centers, local market then return to hotel. Hotel Mille Collines.
Day 2: Fly to Akagera National Park by Helicopter
After breakfast, proceed again to visit the Genocide memorials then after proceed to the Kigali International Airport to board a domestic flight with Akagera Aviation to fly you to the stunning Savannah grassland Akagera National Park in Rwanda. When you reach the hotel/ lodge, proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 3: Full Day Akagera National Park- Game Drive & Boat ride
Enjoy delicious breakfast then after drive through the stunning Akagera National park with park ranger guides from one track to another watching wildlife aanimals wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The wildlife animals you watch include; Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, Topis, Masai giraffes, African bush elephants, Black and white Rhinos, Cape buffaloes, Oribis, Impalas, warthogs, duikers, Olive baboons, leopards, spotted hyenas and lions etc.
After Game Drive, break off for lunch then later proceed to Lake Ihema for Boat Cruise as you watch various wildlife animals along the shores as well as schools of hippos and crocodiles beneath the waters. After the cruise along Lsske Ihema, return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 4: Walking safari & Evening Game Drive
Have early morning breakfast then later embark on a guided nature walking safari which gives you an opportunity to explore the park on foot as you watch the animals and birds, beautiful scenery, and take photos.
Break off for lunch then proceed on an evening Game Drive on which you watch nocturnal wildlife animals like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, serval cats, etc. After the Game drives, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 5: Fly to Volcanoes National Park by Helicopter
Enjoy early morning breakfast then proceed to the Airstrip to board a domestic flight to Volcanoes National Park located in the Ruhengeri District Musanze of Rwanda. On reaching here, the driver guide will transfer you to your lodge for relaxation, or an optional guided nature walk. Dinner an Overnight. Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel.
Day 6: Gorilla Trek & visit to Iby’iwachu Cultural Village
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge at 6:30 am then continue to the Kinigi Park headquarters for briefing.
On reaching the headquarters, you are welcomed and provided a cup of hot coffee and cappuccino then later a park ranger guide will introduce themselves to you and later brief you on conduct around the rare species of Mountain Gorillas.
After this remarkable briefing session, you are distributed in groups of 8 with a lead park ranger guide per group then later you proceed to the starting point where you leave from to enter the green forest vegetation to trek the Mountain Gorillas for a period of 2 to 6 hours depending on where they are currently located in the forest.
When you meet the Gorillas, stay in their presence for an hour taking photos to keep. After the Gorilla Trekking Adventure, return to the lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel.
Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking & visit to Twin Lakes
After breakfast this morning, get to the Park Headquarters for briefing on conduct around the Golden Monkeys. Later with a lead park ranger guide, enter the green forest to track the Golden Monkeys in their natural forest vegetation habitat for a period of 2 to 4 hours as you follow the Golden Monkeys from one trail to another taking many photos to keep.
You follow a habituated troop as you watch them while taking you through their daily lives through eating, playing, grooming and others. You watch them leap from one bamboo branch to another then after tracking the Golden Monkeys, break off for hot lunch.
After the lunch break, proceed to explore and visit the Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Here you shall have canoe rides along these beautiful Lakes. After this adventure, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel.
Day 8: Depart to Kigali by Helicopter
Enjoy breakfast then embark on departure flight to the Kigali International Airport to board flight back home.
